Map: Glebe Tear-Downs and Infills

This map was created by the Glebe Heritage Committee.  To create it, what was involved was that two people drove together along all streets of the Glebe (a second pair of eyes in this kind of thing can be very useful!) using the City of Ottawa Heritage Reference List as a guide.  This helped in making note of where historic houses have been demolished and replaced with new infill (by “new”, this would be anything that looks to have been constructed within the last 30 years or so.)  The changes were then plotted on a map of the Glebe, which now helps gives the viewer a pretty good ideas as to where most of the infill activity has been concentrated.  Though some commercial buildings along Bank Street have been lost, mostly to fire, these changes were not plotted because the focus was on the residential housing.
